A Mathematical Problem...

Rix is learning addition and subtraction at school. So all day long he asks me math questions. What's seven plus nine? What's two plus two? Etc etc etc. He's getting pretty good at addition, subtraction is coming, and he enjoys figuring out the problems on his own.

So the other night he and Bryce (who pretends he can add, but he can't) were doing some math games in the Thomas the Train magazine they get. I don't know how they get this magazine. I've never subscribed to it, and yet month after month for the past few years it comes to our mailbox! It's a nice and free treat for the boys.

Anyway, they were doing math games and Rix says to me "Mom, here is a hard one! What it six plus four plus eight?"

"Um, you figure it out" I said to him. The best way to learn is to figure it out for yourself! I thought for sure he would know to add the first two and then add the last one.

He then gives me this incredulous look, and says "Uh, I can't mom! I only have two hands!"

Stupid me, I thought he had three.

That is hilarious. I love children's logic. Duh Mom....I love that tone that they get.

Hayden always tries to stump me with math and Roman always pretends he knows math, too. Silly kids. Teach Rix to take off his socks :)
