The Things They Know...

*When I was in elementary school, our music teacher taught the whole school "My Country 'Tis of Thee", and at school assemblies, she always started the assembly off with this song (I personally think she could have found a less-boring song, but what do I know?). Anyway, to make sure we all started on the right note and at the right place she would sing the words "Ready, begin" and then we would all start, so it sounded like this: "Ready, begin, My Country 'Tis of Thee..." Well, we learn what we hear, and for years I thought that was how the song went, and the whole school would sing "Ready, begin" as the first line of the song. A few years into it the music teacher finally had to tell us that "Ready, begin" was NOT in the words, and it was hard not to sing those words when we sang the song. So I tell you that story to help you understand this story. Bryce is learning about church and understanding more about Jesus and prophets and such. The other day two Jehovah's Witnesses came to our house to invite us to their party for Jesus (sounds like fun!) and gave us a paper with some pictures of Jesus on it. Bryce took it and said, in front of us all, "Mom! This is Jesus Christ Amen!" This may take some serious un-learning.

* The words that come out of my mouth the most lately are "Bryce, stop being mean to Cole." One day I must have said it quite a bit, because Rix turned to me and said "Mom, he obviously doesn't understand what the word STOP means." And walked away. Boy, was I told!

* Rix and Bryce have been into this Christmas movie called "Annabelle's Wish" and since it's still snowing outside, I think it's still appropriate to watch Christmas movies. So today Rix says to me "Santa isn't healthy mom. He eats cookies for breakfast and lunch and dinner. That is not healthy." Hopefully Santa didn't over hear this - we want good presents this year.

* And speaking of Santa - Rix has Heavenly Father and Santa on the same level. The other day in the car he said "Mom, Heavenly Father loves you. And Santa loves you too." And he says things like this all the time - where Heavenly Father is mentioned, and then Santa does the same thing as Heavenly Father. Am I doing a bad job at teaching them or what??

I know there are funny things they say, and I can never remember them. I'll keep you posted.

Your kids crack me up! Obviously Jack doesn't understand what "stop" means either because he never stops doing anything! Maybe it's a 2 year old thing?

Your kids crack me up too! haha. Rix is such a second Mom, it's the oldest child's job :) I'm trying not to be second Mom to Stephen anymore. He is an adult now, haha.

I remember taking a Speech Class in college ( Not at a Church school) and I ended a persuasive speech "in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen" Boy did I ever get the looks. We say what we are trained to say.

I love that Rix told you that. And, how does he know the word "obviously"? That must come from you! Austin says "actually" all the time. And, I've realized how much I say it. Rix is so smart! And, I am such a broken record. All I've said all day today is, "Austin. Go find something to do!" I can't entertain all day long!

You really need to just post funny kid sayings daily...they totally make my day. Either my kids don't say funny things or I'm just not paying attention.
