Easter: Chocolate and Picture Overload

This year Easter was really fun because both Rix and Bryce understood that it was a holiday - and that they were getting treats because of it. We also taught them that Easter was about Jesus and his resurrection, but when you are 4 and 2, that didn't mean a whole lot. But hopefully some of it sunk it! The boys dyed eggs the night before and loved it! The next morning the ran into our room and we waiting for Cole to wake up. It felt like Christmas all over because we were all in our jammies and we had to wait for everyone to wake up because we needed everyone to be on camera! The boys had a fun time finding their baskets and eggs, and would have probably eaten all of them if I didn't stop them. I made crepes for breakfast - yummy! Rix calls them "the flat pancakes we had when the missionaries were over". Crepes is easier to say. We went to church and then went to Nana and Papa's for dinner. Turkey, roast, funeral potatoes, raspberry pretzel salad and veggies. Can Thanksgiving come any sooner! I love this food!

Rix dying Easter eggs. We didn't do this last year, so this was something new to the boys. They had such a good time watching the eggs turn colors!
I love this picture because Bryce is rolling his eyes that Rix has his arm around him. They were so proud of their eggs- but impatient because they couldn't decorate them with stickers or crayons until they dried.
With the eggs that survived. Both Rix and Bryce discovered that they loved hard-boiled eggs, and therefore kept dropping them "on accident" so they could eat them. Bryan turned most of these into deviled eggs the next day. Yummy! And the baby behind us is not Cole. It's my friend Tessa's new baby Braxton that we were watching that night. (He's not crying Tessa!! I swear!) He was an angel and hardly made a peep all night.
Bryce finding his Easter basket. For some reason, most pictures we take of Bryce makes him look half-drunk. Weird.
The Easter bunny brought Rix a Ben-10 shirt! What a smart bunny!
Cole hoarding all the treats he found. We had our egg hunt inside because the weather was less than cooperative.
Cole in his Easter outfit. Thanks Grandma!
Bryce loves his new outfit - we wore them all again today at church (we had to show Dave and Linz!)
Rix, of course, loves new clothes, but he feels grown up in these.
Mommy and Rix (and Bryce) making Bird's Nests. Thanks for the recipe Stina! They were really yummy and fun to make.
We had turkey and pork roast. Rix and Bryce are helping Papa carve the turkey. They have latex gloves on like Papa too. Their favorite part was stabbing the turkey with the meat holders and any other stab-worthy object within their reach. Super safe, I know. I'm watching all of this through the camera lens!

I can't wait to have an Easter that is full of traditions and family. Looks like fun. I love their outfits! I made my boys wear something from their closet that looked spring-ish. I'll have to try the birds nests next year.

I'm comment #4? You just posted like 12 hours ago! So, I can't believe how big Cole is! I'm missing your boys grow up! NO FAIR! I'm excited for him and Kade to get together. Boys #3 should be able to hold their own next to each other right?

Your eggs turned out so bright! And, my kids loved boiled eggs too. Did you say that Bryan made the deviled eggs???? I can't remember the last time Brent cooked anything that didn't include Doritos!

I could keep typing and typing. Guess it means I need to call you!!

What a fun Easter! I love the boys outfits. I think they look so handsome. I can't believe how big they are all getting. The Easter bunny loves your family more than mine because my kids didn't get anything as awesome as Ben 10 shirts!

Hi Celeste!
I know this is way late, but congrats on the new baby! I found your blog through your food blog, through Athena's blog. :) We never stay at church long enough for me to have ever really said Hi and the few times we have, you disappeared. :) I figured you must be in primary. That's where most people disappear to Sundays. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi too.
I thought your mouse story was pretty funny; I thought for sure it was gonna be a ghost!
