Surprise! Pack your bags!!

Bryan has never been very good at surprises. He always drops hints and asks odd questions so that I know something is up. However, this time, he got me. I came home Thursday night from visiting teaching and mentioned something about wanting to go to the All-City Tailgate Party on Friday. And Bryan said I couldn't go. I looked at him weird, because he doesn't usually care where I go, but he said that I needed to pack my bags for a three day trip. He was surprising me with a vacation for our 6-year anniversary! I was so surprised that I was surprised! I had NO idea anything was up! For those of you who know us, you know that Bryan and have never been on a honeymoon and never been on a vacation all by ourselves. At first I cried, because I didn't want to leave my kids, but by Friday morning I was okay and left with little tears. I didn't know where we were going until we dropped the kids off at my friend Nancy's house, and Bryan said we were going to the Oregon Coast. Awesome! We stayed in Lincoln City and had a blast! It was so fun and much needed. I can't wait until next year - we want to take the kids because we know they will have so much fun there. While we were there we took long walks on the beach (haha), shopped in the little tourist shops, went to the outlet mall, ate awesome food, went to Depoe Bay and went whale watching (we saw lots of whales!), got super seasick (or atleast I did!), relaxed a lot, slept in, and saw lots of beautiful scenery. When we go next year anyone here is invited! The view on the highway to Lincoln City. The drive was so beautiful!
Bryan goofing off at the Outlet Mall. Isn't she hot?? Yes, the city has an Outlet Mall! On the beach AND a mall? It's heaven!

The first day we got there it was sunny, but cold and windy. We went on the beach anyway and FROZE. But it was so gorgeous we couldn't stay away! We both forgot flip-flops, which was a bummer, but we made do and got used to sand in our shoes :)

Bryan and I on the coast. Our hotel was RIGHT on the beach and our room had an awesome view.

Can you tell how cold the water is by my face??
Bryan and the Pacific Ocean - a match made in heaven.
There were lots of huge boulders and driftwood on the beach - it was so amazing. The sand was soft and there were lots of cool little rocks.
All I could think of was "Mine! Mine! Mine!" You can see our hotel in the background.
At Depoe Bay, which is about 15 minutes south of Lincoln City.

At Depoe Bay.

The seals waiting by the pier for fish scraps from the fishermen. We saw these while waiting for our whale-watching tour to start.

At the Tillamook Cheese Factory. We got some awesome garlic white cheddar and squeaky cheese!

We took the Oregon Coast Highway home, and the drive was awesome. We kept stopping to take pictures and just look at the ocean.

We stopped at Cannon Beach. It was warm that day and the sand was so soft. Doesn't it totally look like Bryan is holding the rock? These are big rocks in the ocean and they are amazing.

WOW!! He even surprised me!!! What a fun fun trip. I think we'll take you up on your offer and come along next time. And, I have to say--you are so stinkin' photogenic! I was just organizing pictures from our trip to see you guys and I look terrible in 99% of them. And lots were taken. Bummer. I will live vicariously through your beauty. Sigh.

Yeah I mentioned this to Jage in hopes that he might try to surprise me every once in a while. Sounds like a great time, I'm not sure what to be more jealous of...Tillamook, the beach, the outlets, or sleeping in!!! Glad you had a lot of fun and glad he got to surprise you, you deserve it!

Yeah for a honeymoon! I'm not so jealous about the squeaky cheese, but I'm jealous of the Oregon coast. I didn't get to go with you all when you went with mom and dad so I really want to go now! I'm glad you had fun and got some relaxation in!
