Call me crazy, but I love making even the most boring of holidays fun for my kids. And St. Patrick's Day is seriously a boring holiday unless you a.) drink (I don't) or b.) like corned beef and cabbage (I don't) or c.) drink (again, I don't). So I found this bag of chocolate coins I got at Trader Joe's at Christmas time. In all the craziness of the holiday, I forgot to give the coins to the boys, and I found them like last week. My mind started thinking (a dangerous task, but it's been known to happen) and I decided to use them as Leprechaun coins. I know, don't tell me. I'm ultra-creative, right? So then while cleaning the basement out, I found a package of Designer Hot Wheels that I forgot to give the boys for Christmas (I'm on a roll here people!) and I thought to myself...I'll make this the little prize that the Leprechaun leaves for the boys at the end of the chocolate coin trail! After doing a little victory dance for my stroke of brilliance, and also because I'm an awesome dancer and I like to break it out once in a while, I hid the cars again so the boys didn't see them.
So that morning, after I got the kids in the car to go to the office, I ran back in, made a coin trail, and left the cars at the end of the trail. It was so exciting! Like a mini-Christmas, which is fitting, seeing as the items were all at one time intended to be Christmas gifts. Who knew St.Patrick's Day could be so fun??

Leprechaun Day!!!
The Coin Trail!
Rix and Cole picking up coins. I don't think they realized they were edible, and maybe I shouldn't have told them. Those coins are tasty!!
Rix found the cars!
Bryce showing off his loot. Notice all the boys are wearing green? We are super festive!

How fun! I think it's the mom in us that tries to make boring holidays fun...hmm...what I do for Memorial Day? Labor Day? Secretaries Day???
You are very creative. I hope to see you break out in dance, next time I see you. Although, I don't think it will be as good as what you just described.
you are adorable! Love it
I love reading your blog. 1) You are brilliant. 2) You are a great dancer! I will attest! 3) You are fun. and 4) You are seriously awesome at writing. can't wait to read your book...are your writing it?
I think above all else, you are forgetful. At least you made something awesome out of your forgetfulness! I made green pancakes and eggs (and they were NEON green) and green cupcakes (you do NOT want to see what Madelynn's diaper looked like with all that dye!) but that was the extent of it all. Glad they liked it. Oh, and I'm totally stealing that idea next year. If I remember :)
