A couple weeks ago Bryan and I had the marvelous opportunity to go to Friday Harbor with Dave and Lindsay and her parents. We dubbed it our "anniversary celebration" since our 8-year anniversary was a couple weeks away and we hadn't planned anything yet.
So you should know two things: I love Friday Harbor. It's a cute little town on San Juan Island. It's gorgeous and relaxing and wonderful. And number two, I love going on vacation with Dave and Lindsay! They get me off my butt and out doing stuff. I would have hung out at the house all weekend reading and napping if they hadn't planned such fun things (they did this in Maui too - I never would have kayaked or snorkeled or hiked without them!).
It was a fabulous time and we really enjoyed hanging out with Dave and Lindsay and her parents (her dad is an amazing cook!). I was a little skeptical about going that weekend because I had left all my kids with Carissa and Adam and my mom had her gall bladder removed that day too. But it all worked out and I'm glad we went. We made some great memories! Below are some pictures of what we did and what we saw.

Rusty is our scout. With his own little doggy life jacket. He was so good all weekend!
Bryan and Dave. We went boating and checked out the island and the area around the house.
Me on the boat. Isn't the water beautiful? I love this place.
Me and Rusty and Lindsay.
Bryan and me.
CLOSE UP!!
"I'm the king of the world!!"
Leah and Larry kayaking. It was a really foggy morning, which made everything look so cool. And they made some seal friends, who followed their kayak for a while. It was pretty cute.
Bryan is loving the kayaking.
I'm loving the kayaking!
You can barely see the island through the fog.
Can you see the seal?
Now can you see the seal? This is what the island usually looks like - without the fog.
Dave, Lindsay, and Rusty kayaking.
I can't help but think "Goonies" when I see this.
"Whoa! Taking on the jellies!" This jelly fish was huge! And no, I didn't bounce on the top of it.
Larry found some amazing sunglasses! He reminded me a lot of my dad.
A SNUGGIE!! And yes, it kept me warm on the boat ride.
Rusty was so tired he used the oh-so uncomfortable table as a pillow. Poor puppy!
Bryan and Dave in their "dresses".
Hiking on the property.
This beetles were everywhere and so fast.
Making weird faces. For some reason, Bryan and I find ourselves doing this a lot!
See? Weirdo.
Skipping rocks. Isn't this place beautiful?
My Favorite Things About This Weekend:
1. I got to finish my book without interuptions!!
2. Spending quality time with my husband :)
3. Being on the water and seeing the trees, the wildlife, and the huge homes on the Sound.
4. Playing card games with everyone
5. Sleeping in!!!
6. Eating lunch in town - I had some amazing fish tacos.
7. Larry's cooking - I need his marinara recipe!
8. Going home and seeing my kids! It was great to be away with Bryan, but I realize how much I need my kids when I'm not with them.
Thanks Carissa and Adam for watching my kids - needless to say, we owe you big time! Thanks Dave and Lindsay for letting us come with you! We loved every minute of it! And thanks Leah and Larry for letting us tag along and for being so fun and for the yummy food! And thanks Ani and Jerry for letting us be there. We appreciate your generosity and willingness to let us use your home! It's beautiful and we have created great memories being there.

Friday Harbor looks amazing. I am super jealous. I love all of your pics. The funny faces are probably my favorite. You will have to send the recipes my way when you get them. Glad you had fun!
WOW! It's so beautiful out there! Looks like you had a great time!
Big time... that's what you owe us :) Your kids were good, though! Friday Harbor looks like lots of fun. Next time we go there (like the fam reunion) you can show us the cool places to go!
I'm so glad you like vacationing with us cause we sure like it too! You got some good pictures! I love your snuggie picture and thanks so much for taking a picture of my dad in those glasses! One of these days we'll get you guys up there in the summer!
Hopefully one day you can blog about how much fun you have with us, not just with your inlaws :) And Bryan sure does a lot of thumbs up signs in his photos, did you notice that? Sounds like a great weekend, I could use some sleeping in and reading without interruption!!!
