Summer Recap Part Two: Utah Trip and Jason's Wedding

This past August my brother-in-law got married - and gave us a great excuse to pack up our minivan and set out for the great state of Utah! We weren't planning on going to Utah this year (especially with a baby who was 2 months old at the time  - and hated his car seat) but we wouldn't miss Jason's wedding for any excuse. Even a screaming (yet adorable) baby.

We decided to make a vacation out of it, arriving in Utah several days before the wedding and staying a few days after. We had lots of people to see and who knows when we'll make it back to see them again? This trip actually worked out really well because my mom was driving my grandma back to Colorado and was making a stop in Utah to see family, so we coordinated our schedules and left the same morning. She took Rix and Bryce in her car, leaving Bryan and me plenty of room to sit back with Jacob and keep him calm in the car seat and to get snacks and toys for Cole. And for the record, Jacob did an amazing job! He didn't freak out at all - I think it helped that Bryan and I were sitting with him and he could see us. It was sure nice though because we were really stressed out about the trip with Jacob, but it all worked out in the end!

Bryan took this opportunity to shoot BB guns with the boys. Rix was the only one strong enough to hold the gun and pull the trigger. Not that he was a great shot or anything :)
Grandma cheering him on!
At the cousin's party for Jason and Elizabeth. Cole was eating whipped cream. Only whipped cream.
Jacob was a great baby at the party! He must like parties!
Rix and Ethan playing at the party.
Jason and Elizabeth opening presents. I want this picture!!
Rix found some packaging stuff and (shockingly) used his imagination to make himself a monster. It was fun - and who knew paper was so entertaining?
What's a Utah trip without a big project? Bryan and Dave helped Grandpa and Roger build a new bridge over the creek. Those beams were huge!
I had to add this picture in of my awesome and muscle-y husband. Because it's my blog and I want to.
After working hard, we went up to the Kamas pool with Janalyn and Roger and their kids and Uncle Dave.
Cole is a little scared of the water. Luckily the Kamas pool has lots of shallow areas!
Rix went down the water slide several times! He is getting a lot braver in the water.
Bryan and Dave bribed Rix and Bryce with money to jump off the high dive - and they did it! We were all shocked! This is Rix...
jumping! See how high it is?
You can see the back of Bryce here. He can be timid and I was really surprised he jumped!
Bryan and I at the temple for the wedding.
The boys eating their lunch after the wedding.
Here's the new couple!! I love how couples look after the exit the temple right after their wedding. So cute!
A typical Bryan-Jason picture :) Feel the love!
Bryce is such a cutie!
Best buds!
Family picture at the temple
At the reception Rix couldn't decide what dessert to eat first!
All the grandkids (minus Jacob, Mallory, and Brooklyn) in their wedding clothes.
Muscle picture!
All the grankids minus Brooklyn (who was born like two days before the wedding!)
Family picture in front of the reflection pool at the temple.
Rix- love this picture!
Bryan and me
Rix, Bryce, and Cole
I love when they cut the cake! It's always a surprise - will he shove it in her face? Will they be nice? And of course eating the cake is always fun :)
Jacob had a looooong day!
We stayed the night in Salt Lake (thanks Grandma!) and the next morning the boys went with Grandma to the Book of Mormon exhibit at the museum. Bryan and I and Dave and Lindsay got to go back to the temple to attend a family sealing of a family in our ward in Lakewood. It was an amazing experience!
Cole enjoying the museum! They had a blast!
Rix liked the part where this video showed you how to do native dancing. And you got to dress up! I hear someone has a video of this?? Kevin maybe?
Jacob has the cutest smile!
Cole looks so dangerous in his big shoes and play gun!
Watching Dave, Daddy, and Grandpa load the car onto the dolly. He's a great cheerleader!
On the way home from Utah we stopped at a gas station and found this little guy (no, not Cole, the praying mantis on Bryan's hand!)

We had a great time in Utah. We love visiting our family there! I got to visit with my good friend Destiny. She worked magic with my hair and then we got to go to lunch. It's always good to catch up with her and see how she's doing! We also got to visit Kory and Ana Lee, who took time out of their busy schedules to take my oldest three to Seven Peaks (they still talk about how much fun they had!) and then they came up later in the week to hang out in Heber and play some games. Overall it was a fabulous trip and we can't wait to go back next August for some more fun!

LOVE the pic of Rix in front of the reflection pool. I have lots of temple ideas now for my fam when we get out to Utah! It looks like you had a great time with family even if we missed you guys here!

So how much did you have to give the boys for jumping off the high dive? I think I'd have to offer my boys at least $10 and even then they'd cry because they wanted the money but didn't want to jump :) I love your temple pics, it makes me miss Utah though...oh, and you guys too :)
