Hooray for GRASS!

It's finally here. Yes, we have a backyard. A REAL backyard. You may remember our OLD backyard, if you can call it that. When we first moved in the backyard was nice - it had grass and a chain link fence. But the yard didn't encompass all of our property, which cut the yard to half of what it should have been. We also dug up most of the yard doing the master bed/bath addition. So basically our yard went from nice but small to big and, well, just plain muddy. We (and by we I mean Bryan with a little help from my nail-gun expertise) added a privacy fence and a deck. But still, I didn't feel, as a good mom, that sending my kids out to "play in the yard" would be in their, or my, best interest. I'd basically be saying "Go roll around in the mud! I'll hose you off later!" But NOW we have grass! Bryan surprised me by getting sod put in while I was in Ohio (and Illinois, South Dakota, Montana...etc). I LOVE it! It's taken a couple weeks to get the roots down on the sod, and we can finally step on it! We put in a gravel area for the tramopline and the playplace (that has yet to be built).

You can see here the fence and the grass. Bryan took out two fence panels to get the rocks and sod in. We are getting more top soil for a little garden space in the back corner and then we will put the panels back in. You can also see at the bottom of the screen some rocks there. We were going to use them for a walkway, but it's a lot of work, and I think I just want a concrete pad for the boys to play and ride on. I'm just glad the boys have somewhere to play and I know by the end of the summer it will all be finally done (we are currently taking names of volunteers who want to come help Bryan finish our house!).

Yeah for grass! Too bad your trampoline isn't right outside your kitchen now. That was an awesome babysitter! I'm excited to see your playground too. How nice of Bryan to surprise you with sod!

What a sweet husband. Your backyard looks great! Wish we were there for those beautiful summer days and to enjoy your great backyard.

Yippee Skippee ! A grass area is truly a godsend. Now the boys can come in from playing with grass stained knees. What sort of help do you still need with the house? Dave can help anytime (that he is home). Set up a work party and let us know when it is and what needs to be done.

congrats on the grass! It looks so awesome! I volunteer to come help Brent, but with you going to Hawaii (lame), Utah, then Bryan working on the temple--I'm afraid you can't squeeze us in!!
