Rix's Graduation from Preschool

So I want you all to know that in like fifteen years when Rix graduates from high school, the spectacle won't be Rix graduating - it will be me. The blubbering mom who is overemotional and sobbing. I will be the Heather at "Titanic" (remember that Kelli?? Haha!) Anyway, Rix "graduated" from preschool on Tuesday morning and it was so emotional! I think I was sad for him because he will probably not see his teachers again and most likely not see his new friends again. Most of them aren't returning to the preschool next year - some are moving, some are going other places closer to their home, etc. So sad! And when all the kids walked in with their little graduation hats on to the "graduation music" - what's that called? - I lost it. Pathetic, right? But it was a really cute graduation. Each child went up and the teachers had a short moment to describe their year with that child. Rix was known as the "collector" - what a shocker - and always knew where everything was in the classroom. They also gave each child a memory book that had pictures of all the fun things they did in class. It was so sad to clean out his cubby (I found two missing sweatshirts!) and remove his picture from it. And he doesn't understand that he won't be going back, which makes it hard. But onto a lighter note - I am very excited to be able to teach Rix on my own this summer. (Send ideas my way!) He knows all his letters and their sounds and is self-teaching himself to sound out words. He isn't very good at it, but I love that he is so interested in learning it so I can teach him easier. I'm excited to do crafts with him and take the kids to the park, the zoo, and the children's museum (which is free on the first Friday of the month - thanks Lindsay!). So I know graduation is supposed to be exciting, but I can't help feeling a little bittersweet about the whole thing. So enjoy the pictures and picture in your mind me behind the camera sobbing like a freak!

I understand your sadness, it's just another reminder that your first baby is growing up. I'm impressed he knows his letters and sounds, Hayden is still not quite interested in it yet. Good luck teaching him on your own, let me know what techniques work for you!

The grad song is called Pomp and Circumstance. Anyway, how cute that they had a little ceremony with hats and all! You will have fun with him at home this summer. Is he going to preschool next year or are you teaching him on your own? Letteroftheweek.com has some cute ideas. Good luck!

So, I'm very unemotional about the fact that Jordyn is going to Kindergarten. Is something wrong with me? Maybe I'll surprise myself. Who knows. You're such a cute mom! I wish we could see a picture of you all crying and stuff. :)

PS. Did Bryan laugh at you?

Hey Celeste! :) I remember Titanic. Oh goodness! Don't worry, I can get through it without sobbing now. Haha. Your boys are gorgeous! ;)
