Rix has been in swim classes for three months now. When he first went in, he was scared to death of the water and refused to let it touch his face. Now he bobs up and down in the water with his head all the way under the water - and he does this by himself. In fact, they are only required to bob five times, but Rix keeps going until someone tells him to stop. And he loves to swim now - which, of course, makes Bryan happy. Last Thursday Bryan and I were talking amongst ourselves when I turn around to see Rix's teacher has put life jackets on them, and I overhear her telling them to hold onto the jackets while jumping off the diving board. Diving board! What?!? So I grabbed my trusty camera - and here is what happened.
Rix getting encouragement from his teacher. The other two kids before him had another swim teacher climb up and help them jump off.

Whoa! Did you see that? He totally jumped off - and all by himself! Bryan and I were FLOORED. Rix's teacher is amazing and she has really helped him do things we never thought he would do.

No way! That was awesome! I can't believe he did it so willingly! I am mad that swim classes here don't start until they are 4. Maybe I can get Olivia in in the winter, but I doubt she would jump like that!
That is so awesome! Way to go Rix! I love how his little legs just flutter when he jumps off. Jordyn wouldn't jump off on her own last year--she kept saying she was cold. Miss Debbie told me, "She's not cold. She's scared!" So, I had to drop her off the board myself. :)
I can't wait to get my kids in swim class, it looks like he is having a lot of fun. I'll show Hayden the video and show him how brave Rix is so he can do the same too =)
Way to go Rixter. We are so proud of you. Next step is swimming at the ranch. Wahoo!
Please know we are using this to inspire Jordyn to jump off the diving board. She's been so worried about it all day yesterday. If Rix can be brave--so can she!!!
