I've spent enough time with Olivia to realize that there is a major difference between her and Rix and Bryce (besides the obvious) - my boys find great pleasure in using bathroom humor, where I've never even heard the slightest peep of such language from Olivia. The words "pee" and "poop" and "fart" (and worse, but I'm not typing those words on my blog) infiltrate their conversation every few minutes, and usually end up in peals of laughter. I don't think it's as funny, especially in public places, but boys will be boys, and I'm learning the ropes as I go.
Here is Rix's first joke that he came up with on his own. I was actually impressed, and even laughed a little I'll admit.
I was at Safeway filling up my super-empty car (I hate pumping gas and I wait until the gas light is on for a couple days before giving in...but that's another story). After I was done filling up, Rix asked, "Mom, what happens if you drink gas?" Thinking he was being serious, because he has no imagination ever, I said, "I don't know, you get sick?" And he smiled and said, "No, you fart!" Good one, huh?
Then, the other day, we were driving back from Bellevue, and Rix was holding his arm out in front of him and making weird noises. "What am I being, mom?" he asked. Guessing, I said, "Elephant?" Because I rock, I guessed right. Then he started doing this crazy thing with his head and neck, but he wasn't making a sound. "What am I now" he asked. Perplexed, I guessed chicken, based solely on his weird head movements, but I was wrong. "No, mom, I'm a dolphin, see my head going in and out of the water?" Uh-huh. Then he put his hands out in front like kitten paws, and leaned forward in this car seat and held really still. Completely baffled, I guessed, well, kitten. I was shooting in the dark here. "No, mom, I'm a skunk!" I raised my eyebrows at him in question. "Because I'm farting!!" he exclaimed. Real nice. Boys...sheesh!

HOLY FREAK! My boys are the same way! I hear the words "poopoo butt" from Roman every other sentence and any conversation we have includes "butt", "poop", or "stinky face". Seriously. I'm glad to know Olivia isn't the same, maybe we have some hope for Aubrey? By the way, Rix's jokes are pretty funny, and they actually make sense. Hayden's into knock knock jokes, and they make no sense at all.
That's funny, about the skunk!Yeah, Olivia doesn't really talk about that, although for a while she thought it was funny to call me a "diaper change" until I told her that was an action, not a name. Boy, did she feel stupid... j/k. Anyway, your boys are funny. Kelli, there is hope for Aubrey!
Just wait till you have a car full of cub scouts or little league players! Once while I was trying to teach some 10 year old boys who the vice president of the united states was, we finally figured out his name was Dick Cheney. "DICK?! Who would name their son Dick? hehehe". We had to call it a day, I just couldn't get back to the task at hand. There were bursts of laughter every other word.......
Oh my goodness that was so funny. I needed a good laugh today. Macade uses that kind of talk too and he and Cory always laugh when someone farts or something...boys. I try to teach cory to be mature and teach Macade that is not funny it is a fact of life. Oh man, i don't know any different i guess. We really need girls for our sanity!!!
So funny! Austin is the same way. I love when he and Rix get together and start at it. It makes me laugh!
