The Big Break (we needed it!)

Last weekend we went on our annual Phase II retreat to Harrison Hot Springs in Canada. We went last year and loved it, so we returned this year (and have made plans to go next year - this is going to be a much loved tradition for Phase II!). This is my dad's way of thanking his employees and subcontractors for all the hard work they do. Anyway, Harrison Hot Springs has a resort there, and there is literally nothing to do! It's so great! I don't feel guilty taking a nap, lounging in the hot springs for hours, or playing cards. The reason we love it so much is because it actually forces us to RELAX and DO NOTHING. Such a great idea, right? We walked around the tiny town, where I got a new Willow Tree figure for my collection and we stocked up on Canadian chocolate (so good!). We sat in the hot tubs a lot, played games with the people we went with (employees and subcontractors and their wives), and ate out. Although I missed my kids like crazy, it was really nice to be away and just do the things I want to do for a weekend.

This was the view from our room. Last year we had poolside rooms, but there are crazy people who stay up late and were so loud that we couldn't sleep. So this year we had lakeside rooms, and our view was so gorgeous!

Bryan and I at dinner at the pub. They had good wings, although I was not impressed with my sandwich :( Anyway, we had fun and got to hang out with friends and family for the night. And I hear the nachos are amazing, so yes, I have my order ready for next year!

Kory and Ana Lee at the pub. They flew up to go to Canada, and it was so nice to hang out with Shmoe :) and get to know Ana Lee better.

Bryan and I in the hot springs. They are like big swimming pools with hot water. It's awesome! Bryan was in the hot springs more than anyone else I know on the trip.

Me, mom, and Ana Lee at the group dinner on Friday night. The food was so good and we had a good time watching people dance.

Bryan and I took a picture in front of this bear last year, so we did it again. Aren't we so cute!!

So Bryan had been buying Mountain Dew at the little store in Canada and on the very last day he read the above. What sort of sick joke is this?? It wasn't like the American cans that are clearly labeled caffeine free. Anyway, it was kind of cool because Bryan still liked it. If we would have known it earlier, we would have bought more for him.

It looks like so much fun and relaxing at the same time. Is that even possible? I'm glad you had such a good time. Those hot springs look sooo good (it's like 7 degrees outside right now with the wind chill!)

Tell me about it, the only steam we see is our own breathing when we're outside! Looks like fun, I want to go to a fancy dinner with real dancing and curly hair!

You are so stinkin' photogenic! Glad you had a good time, even though it was hard to leave the kids. And, when I buy the Mountain Dude, I always get caffeine free for Brent. He claims he doesn't drink it for that reason anyway!

Can my son wear something besides and old t-shirt? I'm glad you had a good time. Sorry we weren't there to tend the kids this year. I wish I had a boss like Rick!
