Cartoon Confessionals

I really try hard not to let Rix just veg in front of the TV all day long, although if he had it his way he would watch cartoons from dawn to dusk. But I do have some things to admit about the cartoons he watched - and I'm interested to see if I'm the only one who feels this way about the cartoons my kids watch!

*So you know the new cartoon trend that allows kids to interact with the cartoon characters? You know, where they ask questions and wait for the kids to respond? Well we often watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and instead of Rix answering, it's me yelling out "The Triangle shaped Key!!!" Like it's life or death. Rix looks at me like I'm crazy.

*I think the Backyardigans are amazing dancers.

*I have told Rix that Thomas the Train and Jay Jay Jetplane are "broken" because I don't want him to watch them because they are creepy and/or obnoxious.

*I love the Little Einsteins theme music - it's probably my favorite music from a cartoon. But I hate the way Annie sings (what a terrible voice!!!). I also think Clifford's voice in annoying.

*I like when Rix wants to watch Kim Possible and The Emperor's New School because I think they are funny and I love the sarcasm. I think I enjoy watching them more than Rix does. I also like to watch Curious George because I like to see how he solves his problems. Do I need professional help here?

* I enjoy watching My Friends Tigger and Pooh because I like hearing the words Tigger makes up. They really are funny! And I know I laugh harder at the cartoon than Rix does. So sad.

*Speaking of sad - I was seriously bummed when the Teen Titans weren't going to let Tara join just because she didn't have full control of her powers. Like that is so important!!! It's all about teamwork, right? Can I get an amen? Somebody please help me!!!

Nope, not crazy, I'm with you on most. Although, I interact with the cartoons to help the kids out, not because I feel Mickey is actually talking to me specifically. I like the Little Einsteins theme music, I'll sing it in the car if there's nothing on the radio, and I try to mimic the Backyardigans dancing. If I remember right, Carissa said Adam tries to copy Goofy's dancing during the "Hot Dog" dance. My kids only watch Disney and Backyardigans, so I don't know about anything else creepy, except Bunnytown. I refuse to let them watch that. And Hayden speaks with an English accent when he watches Charlie and Lola, it's kind of cute. Thanks for admitting how childish you are when it comes to yours...I means Rix's...tv programs.

I agree. Bunnytown is weird and even Bryan won't let Rix watch it. It's like a drug-inspired variety show for kids!

I hate most of the shows Olivia watches. She's not into Disney lately, which is the only thing I like. We end up watching Max and Ruby, which I despise, or Dora, which I despise. I love Disney because it doesn't dumb you down, like Dora does sometimes. And the songs are catchy. And yes, Adam does try to do Goofy's hot dog dance for the kids to make them (and me) laugh.

When did you post this? I never noticed. Good thing I came visiting. So so so funny!

Here's my deal--I hate the cartoons like Kim Possible and Emperor's New School. I feel like they're too Cartoon Network and they give me a headache.

I love love love Wonderpets--we could sing that song all day without knowing all the words. My favorite is Little Einsteins. I love Curious George--I find it soothing.

What a great post! By the way, at dinner the other night Roger was saying how he was amazed that Rix knew who Racheal Reay was. And, I guess Jason is going to NY and might be able to get on the RR show or something. So, everyone was so excited to tell you--because they know how much you LOVE her!
