In ten days, I managed to have TWO vacations! Okay, okay, one of the "vacations" was everyone visiting us here in Lakewood, but it felt like a vacation with all the eating out and hanging out we did! My first vacation was to Ohio to visit Carissa and Adam and their family. Kelli and I were spoiled by my dad and flew first class together (FYI: first class meals are SOOOO good!). We had such a good time in Cleveland! We did lots of shopping and eating out. And Carissa spoiled us with awesome meals. We got to visit Kirtland too, which I was really excited for. I thought visiting the temple would be the highlight of the tour, but the actual tour of the temple was really bland, and I think it took away from the spiritual aspect of the temple. Bummer, right? But we did get to visit some homes and the Newel K. Whitney Store, which were so neat to see! And to be in a place where Joseph Smith stayed and taught, and to be in the School of the Prophets was so great and spiritually uplifting (minus Jack grunting in the background). It was a really neat place. We also visited Niagara Falls and besides the never-ending car trip, it was such a grand sight to see! I never knew I would be blown away by something as simple as a waterfall, but it was so big and we were so close to it! We went on the Maid of the Mist, which took us literally hundreds of feet (or whatever - I am a terrible jugde of distance) from the falls, and it felt like we were in a downpour! The trip itself was amazing and so fun! I didn't realize how much I missed my sisters until I saw them again and then had to leave again! It is so nice to be able to hang out with them and it feels like we have never been apart - we just slide right into whatever it is that we are doing and have fun together! And SURPRISE!!! We didn't even fight the whole week :)

This is an exact replica of the Whitney store. It was so interesting to see all the things they sold back then (and the fabric in the window is so pretty!). It was really cool to imagine that we were back in time in the store - what would I have wanted to get?

Outside the Whitney Store

This is Niagara Falls - do you see how close we are? And we are only on the observation deck!

The falls were great because they gave off this mist that was nice and cooling. It also had this thundrous white noise effect, which made me sleepy (and apparently Kelli is sleepy too!)
Kelli and I sporting the stylish ponchos they give you for the Maid of the Mist. They were actually death ponchos, because they had a greenhouse effect and made it so hot!
Somehow I didn't get as wet as the others did. Hmmm... isn't this a good look?

These falls are part of Niagara Falls, but they are called American Falls because they are on the American side (we were on the Canadian side).
Kelli and I with Jack and Livvy. We went out to lunch this day and are getting ready to go to the airport to leave. *sniff sniff*
Being sad for very long didn't work for me, because the day after I got back we got visitors! Roger and Janalyn and Stina and Brent (and Kade!!) came to good ol' Lakewood to visit us for the weekend. We had a really good time playing games and eating out (notice I eat out a lot?) and hanging out in Seattle. It was really nice to have them all here, especially because it was Bryan's birthday and I think the only thing he really really wants is to hang out with his brothers.

Bryan and I at the Cheesecake Factory for his birthday dinner. The food was so so good!!!

Dave and Lindsay at the Mariners Game (which we totally lost!) However, the garlic fries made up for it!!

We don't care if the Mariners are losing! And what is Dave doing?

Janalyn, Roger, Stina, and Brent at the game! What a good looking group!

Bryce watching the pickleball game from inside. He knows how to relax!

We told Rix we were going to sing Happy Birthday, and he must think we are terrible singers. He plugged his ears before we even started!
Bryan (with a little help) blowing out his candles. Janalyn and Lindsay made this ice cream cake. It was so good!

Roger and Rix being silly
Can't I ever get a good picture? Rix is sticking his tongue out and Bryce is scrunching his nose! They are so crazy!

Ok, first, I wasn't sleepy, I was squinting! But I'm glad to hear you had a great week and a half vacation, especially because half of it was with really cool me. Although the Mariners game looked like fun too.
I think the Pearsons had more fun in Seattle than I do, and I go there all the time! We will have to have lots of fun in July. And Rix makes me laugh.
Cute pics. Fun times.
