My Two Crazy Kids

I just wanted to write about my two kids - especially for those who don't live near us and don't get to see them everyday or know what they are like. They are so fun, and I love every moment with them (except maybe the yucky diaper changes!).

Bryce is now 9 months old. For some reason, I feel like that is a milestone! He is crawling around like a maniac and follows me from room to room, which I find very adorable, especially since Rix was always so independent and happy doing his own thing. Bryce also loves loves loves to be standing, and if he wants me to pick him up he will crawl over to me and pull on my pantleg until he is standing. Then he will "dance" while holding onto my leg, as if to say, "Look how cute I am! Pick me up!" How can I resist?

His personality is growing so much too! His red hair is reflected in his temper (he can be impatient, especially if he wants something, like a toy or attention and he isn't getting his way) but he is also so fun! He loves music (even my singing!) and is very curious, which, in other words, means everything goes in his mouth and I have done the "mouth sweep" more times than I can count. (What does it say about my house if I have taken pieces of wood out of his mouth more than twice?) He is so funny and ornery at the same time. He knows what he isn't supposed to get into (i.e. my picture books, the trash can, etc.) and will start to crawl towards them, stopping every few feet to look at me and see if I will stop him. He even laughs at me as I pick him up to take him away from said object. What a stinker!

Rix is growing up way too fast (and I hope that the terrible twos don't turn into the terrible threes!). He can be so terrible (hence the terrible twos!) but at the same time he can be so sweet, like coming up to me and giving me a hug and saying "I love you mommy". Or when Bryce is crying he will find him a toy and then say "I'm right here Bryce. Rix is here." We have found that he is a little squeamish (Bryan is so proud) because he literally gags when he sees something gross, like my dad's cut hand or Bryce's gross diaper. He even jumped on the table the other day when I said I was looking for the spider to kill. Rix loves to be outside, so we can't wait for the weather to get warmer, and he loves peanut butter and honey sandwiches. In fact, that is all he has had to eat for the past week. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hey, at least it's cheap and we have excellent vitamins. He is officially potty-trained now (woohoo!) although I anticipate accidents will still occur from time to time. Whenever he has an accident, he knows it's a "bad thing" and will come crying to me saying, "Mommy! I want to be nice to my pants!" It makes me laugh every time but he is dead serious when he is saying it. In a nutshell, Rix is a sensitive kid who has a hard time expressing his anger (which results in yelling and throwing things) but for the most part he is helpful and loving, and I love watching him grow up.

You are so good at explaining your kids! It's like I know them, but I don't really since I haven't really seen them that often. I am still laughing at the "I want to be nice to my pants!" thing. It's so funny how kids perceive things!
